Ash – Reading
Each week your child will have at least one guided read with the teacher as part of a group. We look at reading records and change books three times a week during the week. As books become more difficult, children are not expected to change them daily, but they should still continue to read daily at home. Little and often is the key!
Children will bring their reading book and record home every night. In Reception, regular discussion about what they are reading is really important at this stage, as the mechanics of decoding have been mastered. Reading to your child and talking to them about stories and books is extremely beneficial. Please remember to comment in their reading records as it is an ideal way of communicating with us at school.
When your child is ready we will start to allocate online reading books via bug club phonics on active learn. Each set of books will go alongside the new sounds they have learnt that week. A username and password will be sent out via class dojo when your child has been allocated books.
