The PTFA is a group of people consisting of Parents, Carers and Teachers.

We are a registered Charity and main aim to raise additional funds for the school as well as promoting a social aspect to being a parent at the school.

In the past we have raised money towards:

  • Shade sails for outdoor learning environment
  • Multi goalposts
  • Interactive white boards
  • Picnic benches and log seating
  • Reading books
  • Tyre park and trim trail
  • Bike shelter

In addition to this, on a yearly basis we provide:

  • Childrens Christmas Parties
  • Leavers gifts at the end of year 6

We do this by holding a number of fundraising events throughout the school year such as the Summer Fair, Easter bingo, Christmas colour stalls, Duck race, Discos, Movie night and Summer Camp. We also have a 50/50 club.

As we are a registered Charity we can claim gift aid from any donations made directly to the PTFA amounting to 28p in every 1 donated.

We also have a link with a website called easyfundraising. If you register on this website, by clicking the link under the easyfundraising heading on the menu, you can then link to over 2000 retailers and do your online shopping. We then receive a donation to the PTFA of a certain percentage of the amount spent. A very easyway to raise funds by just simply shopping.

The PTFA holds regular meetings throughout the year to discuss events, new ideas and what to spend the money we have raised on. Meetings are advertised in the school newsletter “Manor Road Matters”. In addition we hold an Annual General Meeting at the start of the Autumn term where Committee members are elected.

Meetings are generally held in the pub and are very informal. They usually last around an hour.

There is a common misconseption that if you attend a meeting you will be given a job to do! That really is not the case. It is just a way to get different peoples ideas, suggestions and view points.

Although all parents, carers, teaching staff are members of the PTFA it is the elected committee members who manage the PTFA on its members behalf.  The PTFA committee comprises a chairperson, treasurer and a secretary. Because we are a registered charity we also have a board of trustees who oversee the running of the Committee. The current committee is as follows:

Chairperson: Emma Jackson

Treasurer: Michelle Taylor

Secretary: Samantha Whittam

We have several trustees and always welcome more onboard.

Join Us

We are hoping to increase participation in PTFA meetings so that we can hold more events and raise more money for the school. Raising money for your children’s school can be very rewarding.

You can help out in many ways, from coming along to meetings and giving your ideas, to being a trustee, to helping before, during and after events, all help is so important.

In particular, helping out at a large event such as the Summer fair is really important. The more volunteers we have then the less each person has to do enabling everyone to enjoy the event with their family.

If you feel you can help out in anyway at an event but are unable to come to a meeting then just pop a note in at school reception addressed to PTFA, leave your contact details and one of us will be in touch to discuss how you could help.

50-50 Club

The PTFA is again running the 50-50 Club.  If you wish to join or renew your membership you will pay £1 per month and will be allocated an exclusive number.  You will retain this number for as long as you continue to be a member of the club.  On the last Friday of each month there will be a draw to select one of the numbers.  The draw will take place in Achievement Assembly.  The draw for July will take place on the last Friday of the Summer Term and the draw for August will take place on the first Friday of the following Autumn Term.

Half of the money collected each month will go into PTFA funds.  The other half will be awarded as prize money to the owner of the number drawn.

You may purchase as many numbers as you wish at a cost of £1 per month for each number.  Money must be paid yearly and in advance.  Obviously the more members we have and the more numbers purchases means bigger prizes and greater benefits for all the children at Manor Road.

If you wish to join the 50-50 Club, or renew your existing membership please speak to a member of the PTFA.

Thank you for your support, and good luck!
