PTFA

The PTFA is a group of people consisting of Parents, Carers and School Staff.

We are a registered charity whose main aim to raise additional funds for the school, as well as promoting a social aspect to being a parent at the school.

In the past we have raised money towards:

  • Chill Out Zone
  • Trim Trail
  • Playground marking
  • Shade sails for outdoor learning environment
  • Multi goalposts
  • Interactive white boards
  • Picnic benches and log seating
  • Reading books
  • Wet play equipment
  • Bike shelter

In addition to this, on a yearly basis we provide:

  • Prizes for Christmas Parties
  • Leavers’ gifts at the end of Year 6

We do this by holding a number of fundraising events throughout the school year such as the Summer Fair, Easter Bingo, Christmas Colour Stalls and a disco each term.

As we are a registered charity, we can claim Gift Aid from any donations made directly to the PTFA amounting to 28p in every £1 donated.

We also have a link with a website called easyfundraising.http://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/mrsptfa .If you register on this website, by clicking the link under the easyfundraising heading on the menu, you can then link to over 2000 retailers and do your online shopping. We then receive a donation to the PTFA of a certain percentage of the amount spent. A very easy way to raise funds by just simply shopping!

Meetings

The PTFA holds regular meetings throughout the year to discuss events, new ideas and what to spend the money we have raised on. Meetings are advertised in the school newsletter “Manor Road Matters”. In addition, we hold an Annual General Meeting at the start of the Autumn term where Committee members are elected.

Meetings are generally held in the pub and are very informal. They usually last around an hour.

There is a common misconception that if you attend a meeting you will be given a job to do! That really is not the case. It is just a way to get different people’s ideas, suggestions and view points.

Committee

Although all parents, carers and staff are members of the PTFA it is the elected committee members who manage the PTFA on its members’ behalf.  The PTFA committee comprises a chairperson, treasurer and a secretary. Because we are a registered charity, we also have a board of trustees who oversee the running of the Committee. The current committee is as follows:

Chairperson: Bex Walmsley

Treasurer: Michelle Taylor

Secretary: Iwona Kossek

Trustees:

We have several trustees and always welcome more onboard.

Join Us

We are hoping to increase participation in PTFA meetings so that we can hold more events and raise more money for the school. Raising money for your children’s school can be very rewarding.

You can help out in many ways, from coming along to meetings and giving your ideas, to being a trustee, to helping before, during and after events, all help is so important.

If you feel you can help out in anyway at an event but are unable to come to a meeting then please talk to us on the playground, e-mail us at ptfa@manorroad.lancs.sch.uk
or use our postbox in the school office.
