Yew Class
Welcome to Yew Class!
Our class teacher is Mrs Heald and our Teaching Assistant is Miss Carter in the mornings and all day Monday and Tuesday. We are also supported by Miss Barber on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons
On a Wednesday afternoon, we have R.E. and P.S.H.E lessons with Mr Atkinson.
In Year 2, children are encouraged to work much more independently and to begin to take more responsibility for themselves. This is a very important part of their education, as well as their social and emotional personal development. As part of this development, they change their own home/ school reading books in Yew Class once they have thoroughly read them twice and discussed them at home.
Children in Year 2 should begin to try Times Tables Rock Stars in order to learn their 2, 5 and 10 times tables. They are encouraged to play for at least 20 minutes per week.
As we are very short of space in classrooms and cloakrooms, book bags should be used for carrying home/school readers and these will be kept in trays in the classroom.
Healthy snacks may be brought into class, along with clearly named water bottles.
For PE lessons, children should wear black shorts/ leggings/ tracksuit bottoms, white T-shirts and black hoodies plus trainers. Long hair must be tied back and earrings must be removed or covered.
To help us out around school, please ensure that all children’s clothes and belongings are very clearly named.
