Y5 – Homework
The children will be expected to complete at least 20 minutes of TTRS each week in line with our whole school approach to timetables. We will start this on Monday the 8th of September and we will check this has been completed on Monday the 16th of September. The weekly cycle will then start again.
The children will be set one piece of written homework per week on a Thursday to be returned the following Wednesday. This will be either English or maths.
For reading, we ask that the children write three reading comments per week in their reading record. They have a prompt sheet with sentence stems in the front of their reading record to help them write quality comments linked to reading comprehension skills. Reading records will be checked every Wednesday.
As part of our spelling scheme, the class will do three short spelling lessons per week which will focus on spelling rules and year groups words. There will be an informal test in school before moving onto the following week’s spelling rule.
