Y3 – Reading

Regular reading at home continues to be the major part of homework. Please keep reading as often and as widely as possible. The more you read, the better your own spelling and writing will become so be sure to collect interesting words and phrases that you come across and find out the meanings of new words.

You will need to write something in your home/school reading journal at least three times a week to tell us how you are getting on and there is a journal activity for you to complete. Although you might be reading more fluently and independently, you must still read with an adult to discuss the text that you are reading to develop your comprehension skills and vocabulary.

It remains your responsibility to change your reading book during the week when you have written a final comment in your journal. You will move reading bands when you are ready, not because you have rushed through all the books, so read them carefully and enjoy them!
